The sample went swimmingly. So you can imagine my surprise when my jeans turned out like this:
My second attempt with a different pair of jeans was a little less of a shock, and in my opinion a more successful outcome. Just goes to show what the individual denim can make. Now that I have no black jeans left, I am on the lookout for some more cheap ones. I am determined to get the desired finish, like in my first sample.

ReplyDeleteThey went redish because red would have been a dominant in the base of the black colour, if that makes sense.... the sample from lax's would have been a blue base...

ReplyDeleteYeah my black ones went a slightly yellowed grey colour which, to be frank, I dislike. Would have preferred a white or true grey effect.
It just depends on the dye the manufacturers use and what colour the original denim started out as.
Never the less I have worn them infrequently and definitely plan to do it again with blue denim, people are having better results with blue for some reason.
The salmon red ones are actually really cool - I vaguely remember seeing a designer bleach-dyed pair a similar colour in Russh!
